Bret is from New Zealand and is also known as one half of comedy folk duo
Flight of the Conchords (with Jermaine Clement being the other half). They have toured internationally, released two CDs, produced a six-part improvisational comedy radio program on BBC2 and more recently have produced a TV series on HBO. Bret has also appeared in the first and third films in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, achieving some internet notoriety as '
Figwit'. More recently, Bret served as music supervisor for the 2011 film
The Muppets, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the song "Man or Muppet".
