Jay Brannan is an American Singer/Song Writer and Actor. He grew up in Texas, but currently resides in New York City. Whilst living in California, Jay (through a trade paper advertisement) learned that John Cameron Mitchell was looking for actors for his film Shortbus. In Shortbus, Jay plays Ceth, a young gay ex-model and aspiring singer who has recently arrived in New York. The movie also features one of Jay's most popular songs Soda Shop. Jay also appeared in the 2007 movie; Holding Trevor. In this movie, writen by Brent Gorski (who also plays Trevor) and directed by Rosser Goodman Jay plays Jake; a self-proclaimed sex-addict, that is starting to worry a little bit about his past catching up with him, namely in the form of HIV. Jay's song Lower My Gun also features on the movie's Soundtrack. In October 2006, Jay began posting YouTube videos of his music. His video of Soda Shop was featured on YouTube's homepage, a huge break which gained him many fans. He has more recently announced he has over 10,000 subscribers, making him the 80th most subscribed musician on Youtube. In March 2007, Jay put four of his songs up for sale on Myspace, using SNOCAP. His first EP Unmastered is also for sale on iTunes. He continues to tour around the US (and also completed a short International tour throughout November 2007). Jay is currently working on putting together an album for release shortly!
